So you’re probably thinking… what can I do constructively this weekend! Well my friend, I have the answer!
“SAVE POLAROID.” To those of you unawares, Polaroid film is not longer being made.
(See BBC News and Washington Post)
I have 2 suggestions for you:
1) Catch up on your inspiration on Polaroid. Here are some sites to get the juices flowing. ( Flicker and Polanoid) and sign up on the movement “Save Polaroid!”
(If you are more on the wild side, why not strap yourself to a bridge with the words “POLAROID DESERVES A SECOND CHANCE” scrawled on your T-shirt or a cardboard piece you just took off a beggar)
2) Why not take some instant snaps yourself and relive the glory of Polaroid. Find an old uncle/aunt/granny/weird friend who collects old stuff, listen to their stories about the good old days, and then BAM!, rob them of their old Polaroid camera. Beware, it may have no film in it.
So take the plunge and buy some film through AMAZON or if you are a local SA who resides in JHB, the place I found that had stock was at Kameraz in Rosebank (011 880 2885)
And that my friend is the weekend gone! At least on Monday you can tell your peeps that you had a stab at history in the making! What the heck did they do!!?
Oh… and to really get them going, wear the T-shirt you wore on the bridge!
The End!

It’s on Jason! You strap yourself to the bridge, I’ll bring the snacks!
YES! I’m strapping myself to Barack Obama, but that could end badly… maybe a train. Tell you what – let’s burn down forrests until they start making polaroid again – our catch phrase can be “Express Global Warming: Holding the world for ransom” and then we can say stuff about polaroid in the brief. Why am I so amazing?
