Here is a bit of info you may not know about Luma!
We make maquettes too!!
So you want to know the secret of how we do it? Here are the steps:
Step 1: We lock our character designer and sculptor (Charl Smit) into a small space
Step 2: Throw away the key for a month
Step 3: Viola! We have characters made out of sculpey! (Mad applause!)
Charl I’m sure, would like to add to this post by inserting a few more (not so important) steps like:
Step 1: Draw tons of concept sketches while no one can make up their minds!
Step 2: Begin the dirty sculpting process
Step 3: Spend hours and days on end sanding to get a smooth surface area.
Step 4: Go a little twitchy while watching the sculpey bake!
Step 5: Breathe in poisioness fumes while painting and airbrushing. (Remember the door is locked)
Step 6: Emerge from the dark hole with an art piece only to be broken a day later by over eager cleaning staff member armed with a feather whacker!!!
Step 7: Rinse and repeat!
Contact us if you would like to have your own character designed and made by our prisoner Charl!
We don’t bite! Charl on the otherhand… might!
Feast your eyes on some of his amazing work below!

A friend of mine just emailed me one of your articles from a while back. I read that one a few more. Really enjoy your blog. Thanks
